I sat with my homework, a jar of peanut butter, and a spoon and that's all I needed for hours. I craved it all day and night. I had some weird sleep eating thing my freshman year, where I would wake up in the morning to find empty food packages...or jars of PB or find that I had somehow gone to the vending machine. It was like my body craved it even when I wasn't conscious, probably from being malnourished in high school. I felt like a pregnant woman trying to satisfy my need for fats.
And then something crazy happened around the time of surgery...
I ate peanut butter that people brought me and the PB & J sandwiches I was given in my hospital meals. About a week out though, food was the last thing I wanted. The first few weeks...everything tasted off. Way before my nausea phase kicked in, I started hating Cheesecake Factory food and sodas, even Coke Zero, and foods that I normally ate on a daily basis. Indian food was the only thing I really wanted because of it's spice. Slowly, however, my taste started normalizing about a month post-surgery for everything except..PEANUT BUTTER!
Since then, not only have I not really had nor craved peanut butter, but I am almost repulsed by the thought of it. I never thought this would happen. My mom didn't like PB because she said it tasted like the butter from peanuts (go figure...she was silly) and hated Reese's. I always thought she was insane. I found people who weren't too fond of the food absurd.
And now, I'm that person.
What's happening?!
